The lawmaker was reacting to the idea of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas of naturalizing Palestinian refugees in Jordan, underlining that the homeland of the Palestinian refugees is Palestine and that they have the full and legal right to return to it.
"I am against the principle of naturalization and I think that any idea of this kind would infringe on the right of return of our people in diaspora", she underscored in an interview with the PIC.
She stressed that such an idea of the PA chief reflects weakness on his part, and proves that the negotiations that the PA leadership was and still is holding were indeed of no value.
"It is obvious that the marathon meetings between the PA leadership and the Israeli occupation government and the USA were meant to achieve certain agenda that started to become clearer before the Palestinian people, and I have no doubt that there would be some compromises from the Palestinian negotiator", she pointed out.
However, she rejected the theory that Abbas was pressured by certain parties to concede some Palestinian legal rights and national constants asserting, "I don’t think that there were pressures practiced on president Abu Mazen ( Abbas's alias name) because the one who willingly goes to the negotiation table could easily pullout of those negotiation willingly also".
Finally, she made clear that no one could unilaterally decide the fate of an entire nation, and therefore, she confirmed, neither Abbas nor anyone else could compromise the right of return of the Palestinian refugees or decide to naturalize them in different countries.
