GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Jamal Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, stated Monday that the Israeli occupation is required to open the Gaza crossings immediately instead of threatening to use force to block the two anti-siege boats from reaching the besieged Gaza Strip.

"It is unreasonable to target vessels carrying supporters from different nationalities and medical assistance for deaf children by armed force, and to think of confronting this peaceful activity to break the siege," MP Khudari said in a press statement received by the PIC.

The lawmaker pointed out that all reports issued by Arab and international organizations, whose delegations visited Gaza, emphasized the seriousness of the humanitarian situation there and the exposure of one and a half million people to mass punishment as a result of the unjust Israeli siege.

He underlined that there are no justifications or pretexts making Israel continue its illegal siege which is contrary to all international norms and ethics especially in the light of the truce, which obliged it to open the Gaza crossings.

For its part, the committee of Gaza patients' families on Monday held the Egyptian authorities fully responsible for the lives of siege victims who die everyday as a result of the closure of the Rafah border crossing.

In a statement received by the PIC, the committee said that the number of siege victims rose to 237 Palestinians after the death of a Palestinian citizen on Sunday, noting that Egypt is participating in the Israeli siege through closing the Rafah crossing before Gaza citizens.

The committee added that 15 victims including six women and three children have died during the current month and 45 since the beginning of the truce with Israel.
