In a press statement published on Monday, Mohamed Abu Hadeeb, the head of the parliamentary committee, underlined that the peace treaty between Amman and Tel Aviv which was concluded in 1994 includes clear texts stating that Israel should respect the Jordanian role as a guardian of the Muslim holy shrines in occupied Jerusalem.
Abu Hadeeb called on the international community and its institutions to move to stop Israel's criminal violations against the holy places and pressure it to respect the decisions of the international legitimacy.
The Israeli excavations last year led to the collapse of the Maghareba hill which prompted the IOA to submit a project plan to the UNESCO to build a new bridge in place of the one collapsed, but Jordan rejected this proposal and insisted that it is the only side empowered to supervise the Aqsa Mosque and its premises.
